The Things We Do For Love

I don't like to take pills, and I definitely do NOT like to get shots.  But my babies need these, so  I will do whatever it takes to give them the best chance.  The picture below is what I take on a daily basis.

My day starts with the pink pill on the left, Synthroid. I take one a day as soon as I wake up and this keeps my thyroid under control.  The next two are my prenatal vitamin and DHA supplement. I try to remember to take these with dinner because the prenatal leaves a yucky taste in my mouth.  Then there are my nightly pills, 5 folic acid pills (my body doesn't absorb it naturally) and 1 baby aspirin.   Then there's the shot.  Oh how I HATE this part.  Because of my gene mutation I need to take a blood thinner, so I have to take a nightly shot of Lovenox.  As much as I hate shots, I didn't think it would be a big deal. If you had seen the size of the shot Michael had to give me in my butt to help us get pregnant you wouldn't think this little needle was anything to worry about either! But I was wrong. It's not so much the needle prick that bothers me, it's the horrible pain that follows for a full 5 minutes afterwards.  Because it's sodium based it burns like crazy!  And I'm not even ashamed to admit I cry most of the time.  Sometimes it's from the pain, sometimes it's from the anxiety of having to do it, and sometimes it's just my crazy pregnancy hormones.  But tonight I didn't cry, so go me. While emotionally I'm making progress, my body is getting worse. Let's just say, no one will be seeing my bare belly any time soon! I'm covered in bruises and weird looking lumps from the shots. I just hate everything about having to take them. But I am lucky because my darling husband does a pretty good job giving them to me. And they could be saving the lives of my babies, so that is worth all the pain in the world.
