A New Discovery

At night, I like to lay in bed with a heating pad behind my back, and my laptop on my lap.  I've been doing this for a while now, and haven't had any problems.  But tonight, Michael asked me to change a password to an online account we had.  Sounds easy enough, right?  Well, each time I typed in the password it kept telling me it didn't match up.  So I decided to actually look at the keys (something I never do) as I type, to make sure I was hitting the right buttons. Guess what I discovered? Yup, I can't see the keys because my big belly is in the way!  :)

     Just thought I'd shared.  Goodnight!

21 Weeks!

How Far Along: 21 weeks and only 3 more weeks until viability!

Size of baby:  The babies are about 10.5 inches (the size of a banana) and weight about 12.7 ounces.

Maternity Clothes:  This weekend I actually wore regular clothes again! Maternity pants are not really comfortable anymore because my belly is so sore, so I’ve been wearing cotton dresses. Target makes these really comfy dresses that fit me perfectly, and the good part is that I can also wear them after the babies come.

Sleep:  Getting comfortable continues to be a problem and I’m waking up about 3 times to use the bathroom.  Every time I have to get up or turn it’s a big, painful production.  I hope I’m not waking up my husband too much with my grunts and groans!

Best Moment of the Week:  Having my first baby shower at work and feeling my babies kick me for the first time!

Movement:   Finally, I have something exciting to report!!! Yes, without a doubt I am feeling movement!  I definitely am feeling kicks, and can also feel the babies shifting around in there. Unfortunately, one of the babies (I think our little girl) loves to kick my ribs. As much as that hurts, every time I get that pain I know she’s okay, and that is so reassuring.  It’s really cool though, because I can actually feel her through my skin. She’s so high up that there really isn’t much fat there, so my skin is painful to the touch from being stretched, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling her all the time! Baby A is so low, so I haven’t really felt anything down there from him. But Baby C is my side kicker, and I’m pretty sure that’s who I felt the first kick from!

Symptoms:   I’m feeling pretty good as long as I lay down a lot.  Even if my doctor didn’t tell me to start taking it easy and resting more I would be, because my body gets too tired.  I’m very sore, feeling stretched out, and my back still hurts.  But I have no swollen feet, no nausea, no headaches, and no contractions, so I’m happy with my symptoms!

Food cravings:  Still none.

What I Miss:  Being able to bend down! I never realized how many times I drop things throughout the day until my body stopped being able to bend that way!

What I'm Looking Forward To:  I’m looking forward to my last day of work on Tuesday, meeting a triplet mom and her 3 baby boys on Wednesday, and getting to see my babies on Thursday!

Milestones:   Making it to 21 weeks!

Emotions:   Excited! I had so much fun going through the gifts I received at my work shower, and seeing so much baby stuff in my house is making me so excited for these babies! I have a feeling this will quickly change to feeling overwhelmed once I realize I have no place to put this stuff, but for now I’m going to enjoy it and be excited.

Babies A, B, and C have something to say: Happy Birthday Aunt Betty! We hope you have a great birthday. Next year we'll have slobbery birthday kisses just for you!

21 Weeks!

4 (almost) Generations!

First Kick!!!

:) I finally felt a baby kick!!!  I was driving home from work today, stuck in traffic, and out of nowhere I felt such a strong kick on my left side.  I'm thinking it was from our Baby Boy C, and he did it two times in a row. Since then I have felt 2 smaller kicks, but nothing else.  However, I can now tell you where two babies are pretty much all the time.  I'm not feeling Baby Boy A at all because he's so low and must be pushed back.  But Baby Boy C and Baby Girl B are definitely making their presence known!  There are almost always 2 hard spots above my belly button, one to the right and one to the left, which I'm assuming are their heads or butts.  Someone is right under my rib cage and causing me lots of discomfort, but when it hurts the most it's reassuring because that means someones alive and kicking me in there!

I also had my work shower today, which was a lot of fun. I can't believe how generous everyone is! I'll post about that tomorrow. For now, I need to get some sleep.  I didn't rest as much as I should have, and definitely over did it today.  So I have a heating pad on my back and an ice pack on my ribs. Hopefully it'll help enough so I can get some sleep.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

20 Weeks!

How Far Along: 20 weeks!

Size of baby: The babies should be about 6.5 inches and weigh 10.6 ounces, but I bet mine are bigger than that!  They are the size of a small cantaloupe.

Maternity Clothes: I was going to go shopping this week, but I was too tired. It’s getting harder and harder to get through each day, and doing 2 things (work and shopping) is pretty much out of the question.  Fortunately, I only have 6 more days of work left, so I should be up for some maternity clothes shopping after that.

Sleep: I was always a side sleeper and since that’s the best position for a pregnant person to sleep in I thought I’d have no problems. But both my sides are very sore from the shots so it’s hard to get comfortable. Then, if I do manage to find a comfy spot the babies will decide they are not comfortable and will either lie on a nerve and give me back pain or will make it hard for me to breath.  But it’s all worth it!

Best Moment of the Week: Discussing baby names with my husband! We’re still not 100% sure, but we’re making a lot of progress and have a good start. But don’t ask what names we’re considering because it’s a secret! I don’t even know if we’ll be totally positive until we see them anyway, so don’t feel bad that we’re not sharing.

Movement: I digest my food after I eat (which is often) and I have gas (sorry!), so how the heck am I supposed to know what a ‘flutter’ is and what is my body just doing its thing???  Sometimes I think I may feel something, but who knows.  I’ve felt the same things I think I’m feeling now when I wasn’t pregnant and was just digesting my food!  So I’m going with no, I’m still not feeling movement.

Symptoms:  Boy am I starting to feel stretched!!!  My center of gravity is also changing, and sometimes I feel like I’m going to just tip right over!  I can no longer see my butterfly tattoo on my hip, and I think my boobs are finally growing a little.  Other than that and the continued back pain, I’m feeling pretty good.

Food cravings: No cravings, but I definitely get hungry a lot and don’t feel too good if I have an empty stomach.

What I Miss: Well, there’s lots of stuff I wish I could do that I can’t anymore, but honestly, I’m so happy to be pregnant right now that I don’t miss any of it!

What I'm Looking Forward To: My work shower this Friday!

Milestones: 2o weeks! No more teens for me!

Emotions:  Happy and excited! This is feeling more real every day, and I’m finally feeling more confident that I will be bringing 3 babies home.

Good News!

My three children (oh my goodness, did I just say 3???) were just given a clean bill of health!  Michael joined me at the appointment today, he never misses any, and we are feeling very blessed right now to have received such good news.  A, B, and C are growing as they should be, have healthy hearts and brains, have cute little bladders, and have no issues that are concerning at this point.

     Baby A:  Boy!  19 weeks 6 days, 321 g (11 oz).
     Baby B:  Girl!  19 weeks 0 days, 244 g (9 oz).
     Baby C:  Boy!  19 weeks 0 days, 264 g (9 oz).

They were all moving around like crazy. In fact, they weren't even able to get all the measurements they needed because our trio would not stop moving!  But one measurement they were able to get was the size of Baby C's boy parts: 2 cm!  She said he was most definitely a boy! LOL.

He offered to put me out of work at 20 weeks (next Monday), but said he would be okay with me staying until the end of May so I decided to do that.  So May 30 will be my last day of work. Starting then, modified bed rest begins.  I have to be off my feet for 6 out of 10 hours a day.  I can still drive and go out for short errands, but should limit the stairs and should take it easy as much as possible.  I can handle this. :)

Okay, enough ramblings. Now for the good part, pictures!  In order, Baby A, Baby B, and Baby C.

19 Weeks!

How Far Along: 19 weeks!

Size of baby: The babies are about the size of an heirloom tomato, are 6 inches long, and weigh about 8.5 ounces.  We’ll find out tomorrow how accurate these estimations are!

Maternity Clothes: I am getting bigger and bigger each week and am starting to think that I am going to have to buy some more clothes very soon. I’m trying to get by with what I have, but I need more tops because my regular shirts aren’t really cutting it anymore!

Sleep:  I’m starting to have some trouble in this department, and I’m not too happy about it!  First off, my back pain is not getting any better so I have a difficult time getting to sleep. Then, I keep waking up because I’m so uncomfortable and can’t always fall back to sleep right away. I guess this is the baby’s way of preparing me for the long, sleepless nights to come.

Best Moment of the Week: Finding out that my baby shower invitations went out! I can’t believe this is real…I’m really going to have a baby shower! J

Movement: Still nothing…I’m patiently waiting for this special moment. I’ve tried pushing on my stomach, listening with the stethoscope, laying still, moving around a lot, and so many things, and yet I still feel NO movement. What’s going on in there?????

Symptoms:  Well, I definitely cannot be on the show I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant.  One look at me and there is no denying I am pregnant!  But other than that and the horrible back pain, I really don’t have any other symptoms.  I’m slowing down, that’s for sure, but I don’t have any nausea, I’m not exhausted, and my body hasn’t changed (again, except for the biggggg belly).

Food cravings: I think I should just delete this line. Still none.

What I Miss: Being able to drive home without withering in pain.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Without a doubt, my doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon. I can’t wait to see my babies again and hear their heartbeats. Plus, it’s my long scan, so I’ll be very reassured after tomorrow that everything will be fine.

Milestones: Making it to 19 weeks! Only 5 more weeks until VIABILITY! I am sooooo close!

Emotions:  Excited for tomorrow!

Opinions Wanted.....

This may come as a surprise to many of you, but I am not very creative, nor do I have a good sense of style.  I chose 2 different bedding sets, 2 matching boy sets and a girl set, that I absolutely love. I had always wanted to do my boys room in a nautical theme, so that's what I chose. A really cute (in my opinion) boating set by Nautica.  I never had an image in my head for my little girl, but I saw a purple butterfly set and knew that would be perfect. Sounds good, right? But there's a slight problem....they don't match, at all!  I originally thought a baby blue would look good with both, but Caitlyn and I went to the store today to match the comforters with paint samples and it totally clashes with the girls set.  So this is where you come in. :) Please, please, give me your advice!!!!  Do I do 2 different wall colors, just stick with the blue anyway because there really isn't much wall showing, do a boring cream/beige color, leave them white, something completely different, or pick new bedding sets??? All thoughts accepted, thank you!!!!

18 Weeks!

How Far Along: 18 weeks!

Size of baby: The babies should be about 5.5 inches and weigh about 6.7 ounces, but I know baby A is bigger than that by now since that’s what he measured last week.  They’re about the size of a sweet potato.

Maternity Clothes: I pretty much wear maternity pants and tops every day now.  I can get away with a few regular pieces of clothing, but they’re not very comfortable.

Sleep: Lying down to go to sleep is no longer the highlight of my day.  I still sleep okay, but I move around a lot and have trouble getting comfortable.  And of course, sleep is interrupted by my need to go to the bathroom.

Best Moment of the Week: Realizing that things are starting to disappear from my registry!  Seeing that and discussing what color to paint the nursery have made everything so much more real.

Movement: Nada! Zilch!  Not even a gas bubble or a shift. Absolutely nothing.  If it wasn’t for the fact that my belly has grown I would be concerned.

Symptoms: Ah, this is the first week that my symptoms are actually quite bothersome. I’ll start off by saying that I am happy to have these symptoms, because that means my babies are growing and I will take them for as long as they last. But I don’t have to enjoy them!  By far, the worst is the back pain. It’s so excruciating at times, and sometimes nothing I do eases it. Other times a heat pack or repositioning work momentarily, but for the most part it’s constant pain, especially at work.  I also get this really bad pain right under my right boob. It actually hurts to the touch or when I move a certain way. It’s so high up, so I’m not really sure what it is. I’m guessing the babies are moving things around and my insides are all being pushed up. And last but not least, the lovely heart burn has made his appearance. Ahh, the joys of pregnancy! I think I deserve to feel some nice, strong kicks this week for putting up with this!

Food cravings: Still nothing.  I am hungry, and have been eating much more than usual, but it’s usually foods I don’t even like. I actually had a little pot roast (yuck!!!) and veggies last night. I’m trying to eat healthier.

What I Miss: I miss being able to pick up a whiteboard marker when I drop it at school.  Bending down is not a pleasant feeling anymore, and I drop things a lot! It’s a good thing I have (mostly) good kids this year who love to help me!

What I'm Looking Forward To: Being told by my doctor that I don’t have to work anymore. It’s too exhausting; I’m ready to be done. I’m also counting down the weeks – only 6 more weeks until viability!!!

Milestones:  Triplets are very, very rarely allowed to stay in past 35 weeks, so I know no matter what I have now completed the first half of my pregnancy.

Emotions:  Excited!

I Love You, Michael!

Reason #234 why I love my hubby:

Because this is what he bought for me on his way home tonight!  I love how there are 4 in there: one for me, one for A, one for B, and one for C.  Hm, what about Michael? Maybe I'll give him a bite of mine Baby A's, he's bigger than the others anyway.

Reason #235 why I love my hubby:

Because he remembered extra icing!  I mean, everyone knows they don't put enough icing on, right? :)

Gotta go, something is waiting for me in the kitchen!!!
