Day 14: Community

See this post to read why I'm doing this.

Day 14:  Community

I just recently went to my first event, a rembrance walk. It was at the Navesink Fire House, and Michael went with me.  There was food, a candlelight walk, desserts, and a chinese auction.  Everyone there has experienced a loss and though it's sad to talk to everyone, it's comforting to know you're not alone.  It's helpful to hear from others how they have dealt with difficult situations and everyone had a hug and a story to share.  I'm sure being around a bunch of crying women wasn't Michael's idea of a fun night, but as usual, he was a good sport and stayed by my side the entire night.  And we won two baskets at the auction, a Christmas basket with an Elf on the Shelf (something he's been wanting) and a Dunkin Donuts coffee basket, so he was happy about that.

  1. This sounds like a beautiful way to remember them. I'm glad you were able to talk with others and go on a special walk with Michael.
