How Far Along: 18 weeks!
Size of baby: The babies should be about 5.5 inches and weigh about 6.7 ounces, but I know baby A is bigger than that by now since that’s what he measured last week. They’re about the size of a sweet potato.
Maternity Clothes: I
pretty much wear maternity pants and tops every day now. I can get away with a few regular pieces of
clothing, but they’re not very comfortable.
Sleep: Lying down to go to sleep is no longer the highlight of my
day. I still sleep okay, but I move
around a lot and have trouble getting comfortable. And of course, sleep is interrupted by my
need to go to the bathroom.
Best Moment of the Week: Realizing
that things are starting to disappear from my registry! Seeing that and discussing what color to
paint the nursery have made everything so much more real.
Movement: Nada! Zilch! Not even a gas bubble or a shift. Absolutely
nothing. If it wasn’t for the fact that
my belly has grown I would be concerned.
Symptoms: Ah, this is the first week that my symptoms
are actually quite bothersome. I’ll start off by saying that I am happy to have
these symptoms, because that means my babies are growing and I will take them
for as long as they last. But I don’t have to enjoy them! By far, the worst is the back pain. It’s so
excruciating at times, and sometimes nothing I do eases it. Other times a heat
pack or repositioning work momentarily, but for the most part it’s constant
pain, especially at work. I also get
this really bad pain right under my right boob. It actually hurts to the touch
or when I move a certain way. It’s so high up, so I’m not really sure what it
is. I’m guessing the babies are moving things around and my insides are all
being pushed up. And last but not least, the lovely heart burn has made his
appearance. Ahh, the joys of pregnancy! I think I deserve to feel some nice,
strong kicks this week for putting up with this!
Food cravings: Still
nothing. I am hungry, and have been
eating much more than usual, but it’s usually foods I don’t even like. I
actually had a little pot roast (yuck!!!) and veggies last night. I’m trying to
eat healthier.
What I Miss: I
miss being able to pick up a whiteboard marker when I drop it at school. Bending down is not a pleasant feeling
anymore, and I drop things a lot! It’s a good thing I have (mostly) good kids
this year who love to help me!
What I'm Looking Forward To: Being
told by my doctor that I don’t have to work anymore. It’s too exhausting; I’m
ready to be done. I’m also counting down the weeks – only 6 more weeks until
viability!!!
Milestones: Triplets are very, very rarely allowed to stay
in past 35 weeks, so I know no matter what I have now completed the first half
of my pregnancy.
Emotions: Excited!

HI MARYFRANCIS.
ReplyDeleteI HOPE YOUR BACK PAIN EASIES UP ON YOU THIS WEEK. POTROAST WOW!!! THAT'S A SWITCH FROM MAC AND CHEESE. TALK TO YOU SOON BETTY
I hope you start feeling baby kicks soon! I was at 18w5d before I felt a thing, so hopefully it's right around the corner!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! Have you been to the Chiroprator? I find that that really helps me with back pain. Hope it eases soon xx
ReplyDeleteAfter having 2 of my own, that pain under your boob is probably one of 2 things... baby pushing up against your rib cage or your skin stretching. I used to walk around the house with an ice pack just propped in between. It helped (as long as the baby was in a good mood)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenn! It's good to know it's normal and I will definitely try the ice. :)
